The spotlight on BLACKPINK member Jisoo’s family has taken a complicated turn this week. While the idol’s older sister, Kim Ji-yoon, is gearing up for a high-profile television appearance, Jisoo’s legal team has been forced to address serious allegations involving their older brother.

Kim Ji-yoon Joins "Kill It: The Style Creator War"

On April 22, tvN released a teaser for its upcoming variety program, Kill It: The Style Creator War (hereafter referred to as Kill It). Premiering on May 12, the show is a fashion-focused survival competition—the first of its kind from CJ ENM in a decade—aimed at finding the next major "style icon" in K-fashion.

Among the 100 contestants and seven label leaders, Kim Ji-yoon immediately grabbed the public’s attention. Known as "Gunpo’s Han Hyo-joo" for her striking visuals, Ji-yoon is already an established influencer and previously appeared on ENA’s Super Seller. However, her participation in Kill It has met with a mixed reception due to the timing of recent family scandals.

Serious Allegations Against Jisoo’s Brother

The controversy centers on Jisoo’s older brother, identified in reports as "Mr. A." On April 13, he was reportedly arrested on charges related to an incident involving a female streamer (BJ). Allegations include attempting non-consensual physical contact and subsequent blackmail.

The situation intensified when a woman claiming to be Mr. A’s wife posted online, alleging a history of domestic abuse and controlling behavior. While the prosecution recently rejected a request for a detention warrant due to a lack of evidence at this stage, the public outcry has remained intense, largely because of the brother's proximity to a global superstar.

BLISSOO Releases Official Statement

In response to the growing scrutiny, Jisoo’s independent agency, BLISSOO, issued a firm statement through legal representatives on April 20. The agency clarified that Jisoo has "no connection" to her brother’s private life or the current legal dispute.

The statement emphasized several key points:

  • Independence: Jisoo has lived independently from her family since her trainee days and was unaware of the details regarding her brother's personal conduct.

  • Agency Management: BLISSOO denied rumors that Mr. A is involved in managing the agency. While he reportedly offered "limited advice" during its initial setup, he has no decision-making power and receives no compensation.

  • Legal Action: The agency warned that they will pursue strict civil and criminal action against those spreading false information or malicious rumors linking Jisoo to the scandal.

A Divided Public Response

The contrast between Kim Ji-yoon’s career advancement and the allegations against their brother has left fans and netizens divided. While many support the sisters' right to pursue their careers independently of their brother's actions, others have expressed discomfort with the timing of Ji-yoon’s TV promotion.

As Kill It prepares for its May premiere, all eyes remain on how the family will navigate this turbulent period and whether the legal proceedings regarding "Mr. A" will cast a further shadow over the siblings' public activities.
